A sign of things to come?

Maybe. After all, Barack Obama has gotten in the way of the coronation of Her Highness, Queen Pantsuit of Little Rock (via Al-Reuters):
"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said.

Robert Kennedy, brother of slain U.S. President John F. Kennedy and of Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, was assassinated during the 1968 race for the Democratic nomination.

Now, the Mainstream press has a dilemma here. On the one hand, you've got the Queen Bee whom they want with everything in them to be president, so they can't be too hard on her. However, she did diss one of the Kennedy Clan, which is a huge no-no among the Liberal Elite. But if a Republican had said this, it would have been a slam dunk that it would have been all over the front page of Pravda the New York Slimes.

I wonder if The Pantsuit was dropping a little hint there? Wouldn't surprise me. Seems most people who cross the Clintons wind up dead unexpectedly. And you know, there is that prophecy in the Bible. Revelation 13:1-3--I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns...And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded...

Not trying to imply anything. Nah, nothing at all.

Spitzer resigns

As well he should. Because if he was a Republican the entire left-wing media machine would have him tried, convicted, and hung without a shred of evidence. From the New York Slimes:
With the resignation of Gov. Eliot Spitzer, David A. Paterson, the calm and affable legislative leader turned lieutenant governor, is set to ascend New York’s highest office in midst of a political storm.

Mr. Paterson, 53, is scheduled to become the state’s 55th governor on Monday. He will be the state’s first black governor, and the third black governor of any state since Reconstruction.

As news of Mr. Spitzer’s impending departure spread Wednesday morning, Mr. Paterson’s staff grappled with the need to plan a transition at a time the state faces a $4.4 billion deficit. Mr. Paterson himself has begun to reach out to the state’s senior Democrats, including Senator Hillary Clinton and Congressman Charles B. Rangel, a fellow Harlem Democrat with long ties to Mr. Paterson’s family.

“This doesn’t come as a surprise, and it seems very appropriate that Gov. Spitzer takes some time to say farewell to colleagues and friends with whom he has worked,” an aide to Mr. Paterson said. “It also gives a very brief period of time for Governor-designate Paterson to have the opportunity to meet with legislative leaders, senior staff and other professionals in the Spitzer administration.”

Geraldine Failure-arro contracts foot-in-mouth disease

Speaking of sleazy NYC Demorats...

The most horrible VP choice in the history of American politics has shown the country why we were correct to give her and Walter Mundane the historically colossal record-setting smackdown we did in 1984.

In an interview with some two-bit paper in a little town in California, Geraldine "My husband was a career criminal and all I got was these two lousy electoral votes" Ferraro put on her white sheet and had this to say about the man she calls "Little Black Sambo" (Via Los Angeles Slimes):
Ferraro, the first woman to be on the ticket as a vice presidential candidate in either party, ignited a controversy when she told the Daily Breeze of Torrance that: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman [of any color] he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ferraro, a former congresswoman from New York, said she was "hurt, absolutely hurt by how they have taken this thing and spun it to sort of imply in any way, in any way, I am a racist." But she said she was "absolutely not" sorry she had said Obama was benefiting from his status as the first African American perceived as having the chance to win the presidency.

"I was talking about historic candidacies," she said. "In 1984, if my name were Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would never have been chosen as the vice president."

But Obama, interviewed on NBC's "Today," said Ferraro's comments are absurd on their face.

"If you were to get a handbook on what's the path to the presidency, I don't think that the handbook would start by saying, 'Be an African American named Barack Obama.' I don't think that would be generally considered an advantage, and it certainly wasn't when I was running for the United States Senate or the presidency."

She's shocked--shocked!!--that someone would take her comments as being racist. Why, don't people know that some of her best friends are black? Of course, ¿Hillary? Clinton--for whom Failure-arro is a superdelegate--will neither support nor rebuke the washed-up congresswoman (D - Riker's Island). After all, she needs Failure-arro's vote as a superdelegate. So, ¿Hillary? will do what she always does--cozy up to the sleazy and slimy until she gets what she needs, then deny she ever had anything to do with them.

About that "other" religion...

The religion of "Glo-bull Warming": Uh, yeah, it's all a big hoax. You can trade in your Prius now. AlGore and the rest of his GoreBots are being exposed, bit by bit, as the charlatans, hoaxsters, and--well, liars--that they are.

Alec Rawls (Error Theory) has posted a lengthy disembowelment dissemination of the whole Chicken Little crowd and their junk science. Grab a cup of coffee and block out about a half hour to read his post. Here is a snippet:
If global cooling is known to be the real and impending danger, why is it that even with the onset of cooling, most climatologists are raising hysterical alarms about global warming? Because they are not actually concerned about global temperature at all. They are environmental religionists who believe that human economic growth is gobbling up the natural world.

Blaming late 20th century warming on fossil fuel burning was just an opportunity for these religionists to try to impose restrictions on economic activity, and in that way “save the planet” from human encroachment. Global warming alarmism never did have anything to do with climatology.

If only the sun had stayed aboil for one more solar cycle, the religionists would have succeeded. When the inevitable cooling did come, it would still pull the curtain off of their global warming hoax, but by then it would be too late. Economic restrictions would already be fixed in place, under UN bodies that the religionists control.

Alas, it was not to be. The fake bride was almost to the altar, but mother nature put her foot down on the bridal veil, leaving the hairy ogre standing in front of the congregation in his stuffed bra and BVDs. Fake minister Al Gore must be furious, but to no effect. Their game is up.

Even a temporary dip in global temperatures will be enough to expose the scare about human and CO2 based global warming as a fraud. There hasn’t been any dip in CO2, so a dip in temperature will explode the alarmist claim that global temperature is CO2 driven.

Democrats and Social Security

Rant of the Day has an excellent post on the efforts of the Democratic Party to bankrupt Social Security, tax it all over again, and give it to people who don't deserve it:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.

-------------------------------------------------------------------->

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of The US

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

AND MY FAVORITE:

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, Began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted, and maybe changes will Evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

¿Hillary? becomes infected with Eggo-losis

Waffle-osis (Kerry-Heinz Syndrome) is a very common disorder among Democratic presidential candidates--in fact, this site first reported the condition here. However, based on the findings of experts who have been tracking ¿Hillary? Clinton, her condition has worsened, and has morphed into full-fledged Eggo-losis.

Nathan Bradfield has filed this report over at Church and State Blog:
She must have caught it from Kerry and developed a more serious case of it. Lots and lots and lots and lots of buzz on Hillary all of sudden deciding she is against licenses for illegals.

Captain Ed says it well:

It's Wednesday, So We Must Have A New Position
First she sounded sympathetic to the idea during a televised debate, and within moments had refused to endorse it. Afterwards, she changed her mind and endorsed it. Now today, after Governor Eliot Spitzer shelved a plan to issue New York drivers licenses to illegal aliens, Hillary Clinton shifted her position yet again to oppose the idea entirely.People laughed at John Kerry for saying, "I was for the $87 billion before I was against it." He looks like the Rock of Gibraltar next to Hillary Clinton. She has now taken four different positions in two weeks on a single topic.

Juanita Bynum--the poor little rich girl

Posting will be light this week. My wife and I are out of town visiting her family. So I'll probably just be lifting stuff from other sites and pasting it here. (Oh, wait a minute. I do that already. Nevermind.)

Well, well. It seems as though poor little Juanita can't pay her bills. At least that's what the county taxman where she lives is saying. IndyCon has more:

I’ll start by saying that I.V. Hilliard is a no good pulpit pimp! A viper just like Juanita Bynum. Read a good post Melvin has up about one of I.V. Hilliard’s scams!

With that out of the way. Many already know pimp I.V. gave pimpstress Bynum money to pay her tax bill. Why? Because I.V.’s wife does pimpstress shows on occasion with Juanita Bynum, that’s why. Pimps have to look out for each other, to ensure future deals where they will try and fleece you for all you’re worth!

Anyway, people have been checking the Ware County, Georgia tax commissioners’ web site and noticing that it continues to show Juanita Bynum still owes money. What’s up with that you ask? Well, ever since the old news broke, the Ware County web site has shown Bynum as owing money, but I.V. Hillard’s check cleared the bank. The folks down in Ware County probably are just a little slow at times getting things updated online. But, the site shows she owes now, because she just recently got behind in her taxes on the $4.5 million property again!

So, according to Pimpstress Prophetess Juanita's theology, shouldn't she just go ahead and sow $1000 into the kingdom of Jesse of Creflo of TBN? See, that way, she'll get her 100 fold return, pay her bills, and have a little jingle left over.

Democrats: equal opportunity offenders

You may have heard this by now. Although you probably haven't heard which party the woman belongs to (Via Newsbusters):
A state representative in a runoff election infuriated civil rights leaders after she ended a conversation with the mother of the NAACP's local president by saying, "Talk to you later, Buckwheat." State Rep. Carla Blanchard Dartez, of Morgan City, acknowledged she made the remark during a Thursday night telephone conversation with Hazel Boykin to thank her for driving voters to the polls. Buckwheat, a black child character in the "Little Rascals" comedies of the 1930s and '40s, is viewed as a racial stereotype demeaning to black people.

You know that if she was a Republican, that fact would be blared in the headline. But, she is a Democrat, so the mainstream media has to bury that fact. I wonder what would have happened if Rush Limbaugh had said something like that...

Ted Kennedy: "Waterboarding is torture, drowning isn't"

OK, let me get this straight. Ted Kennedy thinks that anybody who pours water down the throat of a suspected terrorist in order to obtain information should be prosecuted. (Via Stop the ACLU)

But it's OK to pour the contents of Chappaquiddick Bay down the throat of a young girl who's trapped in your car in order to obtain a lifelong Senate seat.

Hypocrite, thy name is "Whoopi"

Video from Jammie Wearing Fool.

Apparently, Whoopeeeeeeeee thinks it's OK to have dogs tear each other apart, drown them, electrocute them, and torture them--so long as you come from a place where it's culturally acceptable. Problem is, in THIS country--you know, the United States, where Michael Vick was born and raised--it's not!!

Question #1--If a married couple moves here from some Muslim country where it's OK for the husband to jack his wife up against the wall and beat the snot out of her, do we go ahead and let him do it because it's "culturally acceptable" where he comes from?

Question #2--Since Whoopeeeeeeeee is a darling of the rabid left-wing liberal moonbat side of scoiety, how is PETA going to handle this? Are they going to, indeed, eat their own?

Republican arrested--keep the story going. Democrat arrested--make it go away

OK, we've been hearing for the las week about Republican Larry Craig and whether or not he was trying to solicit sex with an undercover cop (via McPaper). He pled guilty, said his actions were "misconstrued", yada yada yada. I guess he's right. I mean so he was playing footsie with the guy in the next stall, and reaching his hand under the stall divider. I mean, maybe he was out of TP and needed a new roll. Of course I'm being sarcastic!

That said, let's consider the curious case of Democrat Bob Filner shoving an airport employee (via Seattle Times) out of the way because she just wouldn't step-and-fetchit fast enough for his liking. What, you haven't heard much about it? Of course you haven't. That's because he's a Democrat, and the media have to watch out for their own.

Obama displays biblical knowledge

Nah, not really. He tried to tell the parable Jesus used about building on a rock as opposed to building on shifting sands. And tried to use it to illustrate how New Orleans would rebuild. The passage from the Bible (Matthew 7:24-27) reads:
"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."

Comparing the rebuilding of New Orleans to a man who builds his house on the rock? Oh, yeah, that's real swift. As Allahpundit writes (via Hot Air):
Now, brethren, let’s apply that parable to the tragedy of New Orleans. New Orleans was built on shifting delta soil 16 feet below sea level. Its water table is so shallow that the dead are buried above ground. Without the levees, New Orleans can’t survive any storm at all. Lake Pontchartrain will flood most of it, as we saw two years ago. It’s also probably America’s most corrupt city, and in particular the levee board was run more along lines of patronage and favors than competence. The police force had ghost officers, and many of its real ones abandoned their posts after the storm. The mayor failed to execute a key component of the region’s storm strategy, leaving thousands stranded while city-owned buses sat unused, and eventually flooded. Many of them were less than a mile from the Superdome. The governor dithered and dodged and cried and she blocked the Red Cross from delivering supplies to the Dome. Lining New Orleans up with the parable, was it built on a foundation of rock, or a foundation of sand?

First Bynum and Weeks, now the Whites

It appears the "prosperity" crowd is reaping the harvest of trying to be bigger than their ministry. At the risk of sounding like I am shaking my fingers at these people--I realize that divorces are taking place more commonly than marriages these days--but these are the people that go around saying theat if you are a Christian, you should have no problems in your life, and that if you do you're cursed.

I posted yesterday about Juanita Bynum was beaten by her estranged husband Thomas Weeks. They are divorcing, and it appears they will go through with it. Now, Randy and Paula White--who have had their own share of legal troubles for reneging on promises--are divorcing as well. From the St. Pete Times' website:
TAMPA - Megachurch pastors Randy and Paula White stood before their congregation Thursday night and made the announcement that many in their flock feared had been coming for months.

They are divorcing.

"It is the most difficult decision that I have had to make in my entire life," said the Rev. Randy White, 49. "I take full responsibility for a failed marriage -100 percent. I don't blame Paula, and I don't blame other parties. But as the man of the house, I take full responsibility for that."

He praised his wife, calling her an exceptional woman and a great preacher and wife.

Standing by his side and appearing to fight back tears, the Rev. Paula White called the decision to divorce "one of the most painful of our lives."

[...]

Word about trouble in the couple's marriage has circulated for months. The Whites' disparate ministry paths have fueled much of the concern. Randy White, a bishop at Without Walls International Church, has been spending time in Malibu, Calif., in hopes of establishing a ministry on the West Coast. Paula White, the church's senior pastor [even though the Bible speaks clearly against women being pastors--Ed.] and a sought-after televangelist, keeps an apartment in New York City, where she recently opened a new ministry and self-help center in July.

Notice that part about Randy "...spending time in Malibu, Calif., in hopes of establishing a ministry on the West Coast..." and that Paula "...keeps an apartment in New York City, where she recently opened a new ministry and self-help center in July." So, instead of staying near to each other, and concentrating on their own church in their own community, they have been trying to spread themselves to wide, and who has benefitted from it? NO ONE.

Perhaps now people will see that this "health, wealth, and hypocrisy prosperity" doctrine is a bunch of hooey. These people can't even live what they preach.

Coming soon to a bumper sticker near you

Thus saith Evil Glenn:

GREEN FAKERS: Radar on why eco-hypocrisy matters:

Take Laurie David, soon-to-be-ex-wife of Seinfeld co-creator Larry, and producer of An Inconvenient Truth and other save-the-earth extravaganzas. Though she boasts about using recycled toilet paper and compact fluorescent lightbulbs, David has been pilloried for, among other excesses, flying on private jets. Here's what she has said in defense of her travel habits: "I'm not perfect. This is not about perfection. I don't expect anybody else to be perfect either. That's what hurts the environmental movement—holding people to a standard they cannot meet."

Apparently, when you're worth a few hundred million dollars, being asked to refrain from the most carbon-intensive indulgence known to man qualifies as "holding people to a standard they cannot meet." Note, too, her use of emotional jujitsu: the ones who are really hurting the environment are the ones who are so impolite as to point out her bad behavior. . . . It's always galling to be exhorted to curb your consumption by people who are living the poshest lifestyle imaginable. But the problem here goes beyond aesthetics. Eco-hypocrites undercut the very message they're trying to peddle. How desperate could the planet's plight be if the people who present themselves as most concerned about it consider flying first-class commercial an unacceptable sacrifice?

Read the whole thing. As I've said before, I'll believe it's a crisis when the people who say it's a crisis start acting like it's a crisis.

That's the money phrase right at the end. When Laurie David and Sheryl Crow and AlGore stop flying around in their jets and stop riding around in their big huge buses, they might gain a little credibilty. Until then they're nothing but a bunch of hypocritical Communist wannabes.

Hypocrite, thy name is Gwen

As in Stefani (from Yahoo News):
The 37-year-old pop star wowed fans in Muslim-majority Malaysia on Tuesday, performing in costumes that showed almost no skin after Islamic critics claimed that her revealing clothes could corrupt the country's youth.

[...]

Stefani had promised to dress modestly after the 10,000-member National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students charged that her skimpy outfits and cheeky performances clashed with Islamic values.

The opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party also accused her of promoting promiscuity and corrupting the country's youth.

In an interview with Galaxie, a local entertainment magazine, Stefani said she had made many changes for Malaysia, calling it a "major sacrifice."
OK, so let me get this stright. Ms. "Hollaback Girl" will kowtow to Muslims in Malaysia to make a buck. But suppose that, say, the Southern Baptist Convention asked her to cover up for her performances, and tone down the sexuality in her act. Oh yeah, I'll bet she'd do that. But, what do you expect from the vapid population of Celebrityville? Christians are closed-minded neanderthals, and Muslims just "misunderstand" them.

Here are the possible outcomes in Malaysia: She covers up, and gets to sing. She doesn't cover up, and goes to jail, and is possibly beheaded. By Muslims. The religion of peace. The possibilities in America: She covers up--or doesn't cover up--and gets to sing. And is protested. By Christians. The murderous, sexist, bigoted, knuckle-dragging, stuck-in-the-Dark-Ages neanderthals.

Or, something.

The Goracle speaks!

Noel Sheppard over at Newsbusters has a clear analysis of a column by the NYT's Nicholas Kristof about AlGore. The High Priest of Carbon Offsets is quoted as saying:
''We are now treating the Earth's atmosphere as an open sewer,'' he said, and encouraged young people to engage in peaceful protests to block major new carbon sources.

''
I can't understand why there aren't rings of young people blocking bulldozers,'' Mr. Gore said, ''and preventing them from constructing coal-fired power plants.''
Um, maybe because kids these days don't want to die in the name of junk science. Maybe Mr. AlGore ought to stand in front of a bulldozer. Oh, that's right. Gore's a liberal, and liberals don't believe in practicing what they tell other people to do. Ain't that right, Mr. $1300/month electric bill.

Oh, but he buys carbon offsets. Know what a carbon offset is? It's ordering a Big Mac, a supersize order of fries, two apple pies, and a Diet Coke. Carbon offsets are like the Diet Coke .

UPDATE: Mr. Gore doth not as he speaketh (via Dissident News).

Kill the orang-utans!! We need more biodiesel!!

According to an article from the UK Telegraph (via RedState):
The Orang-utans of Borneo are facing an unprecedented threat as their habitat is destroyed to satisfy increasing global demands for bio-fuel.

As jungles are rapidly replaced by palm oil plantations, the great apes starve and are hunted, mutilated, burnt and snared by workers protecting their crops. At a rehabilitation centre run by the charity Borneo Orang-utan Survival, there are more than 600, mostly orphaned babies. Lone Nielsen, the centre's director, estimates that for each of the 227 animals they rescued last year, five more were killed in central Borneo alone.
How do liberals sleep at night? I mean, their heads must be just spinning from all the different positions they have to take.

Like this: in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels (which AlGore says we must do), they ravage the rainforests (which the Sierra Club says we're supposed to be preserving), and destroy the natural habitat of these primates (which EarthFirst! must be upset about), and kill them to boot (what does PETA think about this?). I am so glad I'm not a liberal.

Duplicity at Pee-Yew

That's P.U., as in Pace University. Come to find out, the higher ups at this ivory tower institution have a history of pandering to Muslims. Seems you can trash things sacred to Jewish people, but don't you dare do anyhting that might offend a Muslim. For a must-read, click here. (h/t: Stop the ACLU)

A few tidbits:
When a Menorah was desecrated on campus and a swastika was drawn on a Holocaust memorial event poster, the University’s president David A. Caputo labeled the events as "bias incidents."

When a
paperback Koran was tossed in a toilet – resulting in minimal water damage – Caputo labeled the incident as a “hate crime” that outraged him.
[...]
Northern Kentucky University professor Sally Jacobsen and some of her students removed crosses from a social commentary/protest installation on campus and threw them in the trash, because she was against the anti-abortion message it was representing. (FOX News).
[...]
Pace censored a screening of Obsession, a film critical of radical Islam, after Muslim students complained (Family Security Foundation).
[...]
Now, back to the paperback Koran and its unfortunate swim in a toilet bowl. Is this really a hate crime? No one was physically hurt. The damage to the Koran was minimal. The Koran in question was a paperback copy – not a priceless religious document. There was no personal target of the demonstration – the target was a paperback book. This was a constitutionally protected act of free speech, regardless of what New York’s hate crime bill states, the same way dropping a crucifix in a jar of urine was protected speech. I suspect that eventually the law will be decided unconstitutional, and Shmulevich will be punished only for simple vandalism.

PC liberals kowtow to anything Muslim because they are both scared of Muslim groups like CAIR (which has pushed the legal troubles against Shmulevich) and they suffer from white guilt – they must do what they can to give minority groups more power because their ancestors were bigots. Unfortunately, people like Shmulevich get thrown under the bus for acting out against something the PC liberals seek to protect.
Do yourself a favor. Read the whole thing.

Next verse, same as the first

"The MOST ethical Congress...EVER!!!!!" Er, something. Apparently Dingy Harry doesn't care enough about being "ethical" to allow you, the public, who pays his salary doesn't get anything back in return, to know what you're paying for. If he did, then why did he and his cronies feel the need to gut the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007", also known as the "earmark reform bill"? (via Porkbusters):

Porkbusters obtained the latest version of the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007’’, and as expected, the Democratic leadership has worked some funny business to dilute some of the Act's key provisions.

Based on what we're hearing from those who would know, key changes include:

--The old version (passed by the Senate) required conference / committee reports to list all earmarks and required the chairman of the relevant committee to distribute the earmark list. But the new version of the bill allows the Majority Leader (as opposed to the Senate parliamentarian, a more objective judge) to determine whether or not a conference report complies with the disclosure requirements.

--The new version removes the requirement for earmark lists posted online to be in searchable format.

--The new version removes the provision that prevented any bill from being considered at all prior to the disclosure of earmarks; now the text only prohibits a formal motion to proceed, which leaves open a procedural loophole that would allow bills to slip through without disclosure.

--The old version prohibited earmarks which benefit a Member, their staff, or their family/their staff’s family. The new version waters that down and only prohibits earmarks that would “only” affect those parties --- which means so long as you can make a case that your shiny new project affects at least one person other than you positively, you’re all set.

But don't take our word for it: you can download a PDF of the new text right here. Check it out, and if you find more nasty surprises in there, please leave a comment and tell us what you've discovered...

Over at Right Wing News, they ahve posted a chart so you can more easily follow what WAS in the bill, and how the Democrats have changed it to keep everything secret.

Now, you've probably heard the term "earmark" quite a bit in the news, especially when it comes to many in the "most ethical congress...EVER!!!" putting in their requests for more money to go to catfish hatcheries in Lonesome Turtle, NV or, say, a museum commemorating the human dungpile that was Woodstock. But just what is an "earmark"? Well, according to an article in Slate Magazine online,
No one can agree on the precise definition. In general, the word "earmark" refers to any element of a spending bill that allocates money for a very specific thing—a given project, say, or location, or institution. For example, if Congress passed a budget that gave a certain amount of money to the National Park Service as a whole, no one would consider it an earmark. But if Congress added a line to the budget specifying that some of that money must go toward the preservation of a single building—definitely an earmark.

Some earmarks are easy to spot, like this year's $500,000 grant to the Teapot Museum in Sparta, N.C. But an expenditure doesn't have to be an earmark just because it's specific. Defense spending bills, for example, come with a very detailed accounting of how each dollar will be spent. When the DoD submits a request for funds, it might tell Congress exactly how much money would be used to buy a particular kind of fighter plane. In another context, this level of specificity would merit the scarlet E; for a defense bill, it's business as usual. (Using the broadest definition, you could say that all defense spending is "earmarked.")
in other words, it's pork. And people like Dingy Harry, and "Happy Jack" Murtha, and many of the other "reformers" don't want you to know that, contrary to what they told you during their campaigns, they don't have any more desire to raise ethical standards than they do to have their eyeballs plucked out. But, the American voters bought their lies, and now we're stuck with them. And the beat goes on...
