Spitzer resigns

As well he should. Because if he was a Republican the entire left-wing media machine would have him tried, convicted, and hung without a shred of evidence. From the New York Slimes:
With the resignation of Gov. Eliot Spitzer, David A. Paterson, the calm and affable legislative leader turned lieutenant governor, is set to ascend New York’s highest office in midst of a political storm.

Mr. Paterson, 53, is scheduled to become the state’s 55th governor on Monday. He will be the state’s first black governor, and the third black governor of any state since Reconstruction.

As news of Mr. Spitzer’s impending departure spread Wednesday morning, Mr. Paterson’s staff grappled with the need to plan a transition at a time the state faces a $4.4 billion deficit. Mr. Paterson himself has begun to reach out to the state’s senior Democrats, including Senator Hillary Clinton and Congressman Charles B. Rangel, a fellow Harlem Democrat with long ties to Mr. Paterson’s family.

“This doesn’t come as a surprise, and it seems very appropriate that Gov. Spitzer takes some time to say farewell to colleagues and friends with whom he has worked,” an aide to Mr. Paterson said. “It also gives a very brief period of time for Governor-designate Paterson to have the opportunity to meet with legislative leaders, senior staff and other professionals in the Spitzer administration.”

Geraldine Failure-arro contracts foot-in-mouth disease

Speaking of sleazy NYC Demorats...

The most horrible VP choice in the history of American politics has shown the country why we were correct to give her and Walter Mundane the historically colossal record-setting smackdown we did in 1984.

In an interview with some two-bit paper in a little town in California, Geraldine "My husband was a career criminal and all I got was these two lousy electoral votes" Ferraro put on her white sheet and had this to say about the man she calls "Little Black Sambo" (Via Los Angeles Slimes):
Ferraro, the first woman to be on the ticket as a vice presidential candidate in either party, ignited a controversy when she told the Daily Breeze of Torrance that: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman [of any color] he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

Ferraro, a former congresswoman from New York, said she was "hurt, absolutely hurt by how they have taken this thing and spun it to sort of imply in any way, in any way, I am a racist." But she said she was "absolutely not" sorry she had said Obama was benefiting from his status as the first African American perceived as having the chance to win the presidency.

"I was talking about historic candidacies," she said. "In 1984, if my name were Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would never have been chosen as the vice president."

But Obama, interviewed on NBC's "Today," said Ferraro's comments are absurd on their face.

"If you were to get a handbook on what's the path to the presidency, I don't think that the handbook would start by saying, 'Be an African American named Barack Obama.' I don't think that would be generally considered an advantage, and it certainly wasn't when I was running for the United States Senate or the presidency."

She's shocked--shocked!!--that someone would take her comments as being racist. Why, don't people know that some of her best friends are black? Of course, ¿Hillary? Clinton--for whom Failure-arro is a superdelegate--will neither support nor rebuke the washed-up congresswoman (D - Riker's Island). After all, she needs Failure-arro's vote as a superdelegate. So, ¿Hillary? will do what she always does--cozy up to the sleazy and slimy until she gets what she needs, then deny she ever had anything to do with them.

Spitzer admits to dealings with prostitutes

UPDATE: Nope, no resignation yet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: Spitzer to resign? Thus saith FOXNews:
New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer apologized to his family in an appearance before reporters Monday following reports that he was linked to a high profile prostitution ring.

Spitzer has been indicted in the Southern District of New York in connection to a high-profile prostitution ring and is expected to resign, sources told FOX News.

"I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family," Spitzer said.

Spitzer scheduled the abrupt announcement from his office as news reports were breaking that the governor told staffers about his involvement in the prostitution ring.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Eliot Spitzer, the increasingly unpopular governor of New York State, has admitted to being involved in a prostitution ring (via New York Slimes):
Danny Hakim of The Times, citing an administration official, is reporting that Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring. The governor is expected to make a statement this afternoon at his Manhattan office.

[...]

Mr. Spitzer, a Democrat, came into office as New York’s 58th governor promising a fresh start in Albany and sweeping ethics reforms, but his first year in office was, by all accounts, tumultuous. His administration was marred by his aides’ use of State Police records to try to discredit the State Senate majority leader, Joseph L. Bruno. The governor clashed with his members of his own party in the State Assembly over the choice of a new state comptroller and was forced to withdraw a proposal to grant drivers licenses to illegal immigrants after it attracted widespread criticism.

Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers [pdf]. The governor’s travel records show that he was in Washington in mid-February. One of the clients described in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, the Emperors Club VIP, on the night of Feb. 13. Mr. Spitzer appeared on a CNBC television show at 7 a.m. the next morning. Later in the morning, he testified before a Congressional committee. An affidavit filed in federal court in Manhattan in connection with that case lists six conversations between the man, identified as Client 9, and a booking agent for the Emperors Club.

Surprisingly, the Slimes actually mentions Spitzer's party affiliation, an uncommon move on their part when a Democrat is involved. This was a man who promised to end corruption, and bring in a new era of law and order, and blah blah blah. More lies and broken promises from a NYC Democrat. This doesn't surprise me, though. I lived in Upstate New York until I was 29. All of my tax dollars went downstate because that's where all of Cuomo's people lived. Meanwhile, the rest of the state got shafted.

Spitzer isn't any different. He's a shill for NYC (This, of course, being the city that keeps putting Charlie "I support our dumb, stoopid troops" Rangel). I'm shocked--shocked!--that a NYC Democrat is involved in criminal activity!

Democrats and Social Security

Rant of the Day has an excellent post on the efforts of the Democratic Party to bankrupt Social Security, tax it all over again, and give it to people who don't deserve it:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.

-------------------------------------------------------------------->

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of The US

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

AND MY FAVORITE:

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, Began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted, and maybe changes will Evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

¿Hillary? becomes infected with Eggo-losis

Waffle-osis (Kerry-Heinz Syndrome) is a very common disorder among Democratic presidential candidates--in fact, this site first reported the condition here. However, based on the findings of experts who have been tracking ¿Hillary? Clinton, her condition has worsened, and has morphed into full-fledged Eggo-losis.

Nathan Bradfield has filed this report over at Church and State Blog:
She must have caught it from Kerry and developed a more serious case of it. Lots and lots and lots and lots of buzz on Hillary all of sudden deciding she is against licenses for illegals.

Captain Ed says it well:

It's Wednesday, So We Must Have A New Position
First she sounded sympathetic to the idea during a televised debate, and within moments had refused to endorse it. Afterwards, she changed her mind and endorsed it. Now today, after Governor Eliot Spitzer shelved a plan to issue New York drivers licenses to illegal aliens, Hillary Clinton shifted her position yet again to oppose the idea entirely.People laughed at John Kerry for saying, "I was for the $87 billion before I was against it." He looks like the Rock of Gibraltar next to Hillary Clinton. She has now taken four different positions in two weeks on a single topic.

Democrats: equal opportunity offenders

You may have heard this by now. Although you probably haven't heard which party the woman belongs to (Via Newsbusters):
A state representative in a runoff election infuriated civil rights leaders after she ended a conversation with the mother of the NAACP's local president by saying, "Talk to you later, Buckwheat." State Rep. Carla Blanchard Dartez, of Morgan City, acknowledged she made the remark during a Thursday night telephone conversation with Hazel Boykin to thank her for driving voters to the polls. Buckwheat, a black child character in the "Little Rascals" comedies of the 1930s and '40s, is viewed as a racial stereotype demeaning to black people.

You know that if she was a Republican, that fact would be blared in the headline. But, she is a Democrat, so the mainstream media has to bury that fact. I wonder what would have happened if Rush Limbaugh had said something like that...

21 August 2007

18%. Can you believe it? 18%!!!

Next time your liberal friend decides to play the old "Bush's approval ratings are so low..." game with you, throw him this little bone (via Stop the ACLU):
A new Gallup Poll finds Congress’ approval rating the lowest it has been since Gallup first tracked public opinion of Congress with this measure in 1974. Just 18% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, while 76% disapprove, according to the August 13-16, 2007, Gallup Poll.

That 18% job approval rating matches the low recorded in March 1992, when a check-bouncing scandal was one of several scandals besetting Congress, leading many states to pass term limits measures for U.S. representatives (which the Supreme Court later declared unconstitutional). Congress had a similarly low 19% approval rating during the energy crisis in the summer of 1979.

18%…say it…18%. According to Sporting News Radio, this is the same approval rating Mike Vick currently “enjoys.” Another poll puts him at 5% as of early August (maybe he has some pity points now from girls who like to marry dudes in Rikers Island). Ouch.

The “honeymoon” that was supposed to have been, never was. As a matter of fact, this nadir is not much of a cliff plunge, as the lofty apex of approval for the Donkey Con-gress was a royal 37%.

As it stands, the battered and shrinking President Bush is
twice as popular as the Donkey Con-gress at 36%.
Quick! Somebody break out the mainstream media spin machines, to paint this as some abberration, or hiccup, etc. No, people do not like the way this Congress is handling many issues, especially the whole giving amnesty to illegal aliens thingy. But, hey, you know that NBC Nightly News will lead with some story about Lindzee Lowhanne, or some other tripe rather than let you know that THREE QUARTERS of the American people disapprove of the way Congress is (not) doing their job.

Clyburn: Good news on the war would be...

..."a real big problem for us." Meaning, of course, his cut-and-run cronies in the Dhimmicratic party. If you don't believe me, look it up. (via Patterico):
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party's efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.

Clyburn, in an interview with the washingtonpost.com video program PostTalk, said Democrats might be wise to wait for the Petraeus report, scheduled to be delivered in September, before charting next steps in their year-long struggle with President Bush over the direction of U.S. strategy.

Clyburn noted that Petraeus carries significant weight among the 47 members of the Blue Dog caucus in the House, a group of moderate to conservative Democrats. Without their support, he said, Democratic leaders would find it virtually impossible to pass legislation setting a timetable for withdrawal.

"I think there would be enough support in that group to want to stay the course and if the Republicans were to stay united as they have been, then it would be a problem for us," Clyburn said. "We, by and large, would be wise to wait on the report."

Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be
"a real big problem for us."
Uh-oh. I hope Dingy Harry doesn't see that. He might have to run up the flagpole and take down that white flag he's had hoisted up there.

War is not a fun thing. It's not something that anyone should go into lightly. But, once we are committed, we should give those in the miltary--you know, people who study combat strategies, and the like--the chance to do what they need to do.

But, good news for the troops is bad news for the Dhimmicrats.

31 July 2007

Next verse, same as the first

"The MOST ethical Congress...EVER!!!!!" Er, something. Apparently Dingy Harry doesn't care enough about being "ethical" to allow you, the public, who pays his salary doesn't get anything back in return, to know what you're paying for. If he did, then why did he and his cronies feel the need to gut the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007", also known as the "earmark reform bill"? (via Porkbusters):

Porkbusters obtained the latest version of the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007’’, and as expected, the Democratic leadership has worked some funny business to dilute some of the Act's key provisions.

Based on what we're hearing from those who would know, key changes include:

--The old version (passed by the Senate) required conference / committee reports to list all earmarks and required the chairman of the relevant committee to distribute the earmark list. But the new version of the bill allows the Majority Leader (as opposed to the Senate parliamentarian, a more objective judge) to determine whether or not a conference report complies with the disclosure requirements.

--The new version removes the requirement for earmark lists posted online to be in searchable format.

--The new version removes the provision that prevented any bill from being considered at all prior to the disclosure of earmarks; now the text only prohibits a formal motion to proceed, which leaves open a procedural loophole that would allow bills to slip through without disclosure.

--The old version prohibited earmarks which benefit a Member, their staff, or their family/their staff’s family. The new version waters that down and only prohibits earmarks that would “only” affect those parties --- which means so long as you can make a case that your shiny new project affects at least one person other than you positively, you’re all set.

But don't take our word for it: you can download a PDF of the new text right here. Check it out, and if you find more nasty surprises in there, please leave a comment and tell us what you've discovered...

Over at Right Wing News, they ahve posted a chart so you can more easily follow what WAS in the bill, and how the Democrats have changed it to keep everything secret.

Now, you've probably heard the term "earmark" quite a bit in the news, especially when it comes to many in the "most ethical congress...EVER!!!" putting in their requests for more money to go to catfish hatcheries in Lonesome Turtle, NV or, say, a museum commemorating the human dungpile that was Woodstock. But just what is an "earmark"? Well, according to an article in Slate Magazine online,
No one can agree on the precise definition. In general, the word "earmark" refers to any element of a spending bill that allocates money for a very specific thing—a given project, say, or location, or institution. For example, if Congress passed a budget that gave a certain amount of money to the National Park Service as a whole, no one would consider it an earmark. But if Congress added a line to the budget specifying that some of that money must go toward the preservation of a single building—definitely an earmark.

Some earmarks are easy to spot, like this year's $500,000 grant to the Teapot Museum in Sparta, N.C. But an expenditure doesn't have to be an earmark just because it's specific. Defense spending bills, for example, come with a very detailed accounting of how each dollar will be spent. When the DoD submits a request for funds, it might tell Congress exactly how much money would be used to buy a particular kind of fighter plane. In another context, this level of specificity would merit the scarlet E; for a defense bill, it's business as usual. (Using the broadest definition, you could say that all defense spending is "earmarked.")
in other words, it's pork. And people like Dingy Harry, and "Happy Jack" Murtha, and many of the other "reformers" don't want you to know that, contrary to what they told you during their campaigns, they don't have any more desire to raise ethical standards than they do to have their eyeballs plucked out. But, the American voters bought their lies, and now we're stuck with them. And the beat goes on...

Democrats: leading us into oblivion (part 2)

(From Cox and Forkum)

The Democrap Party wants to do everything they can to prevent you from reporting suspicious behavior. That is why they are trying to kill the "John Doe" provision in the Rail and Public Transportation Security Act of 2007:
The fate of "John Doe" now falls to the conference committee, headed by Senator Joe Lieberman, who supports the provision, and Rep. Bennie Thompson, who opposes it. This week the committee is expected to release the final version of the homeland security bill, implementing the remaining recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. Leading Democrats -- including Senate Judiciary Chairman [Pat "Leaky"] Leahy, Majority Leader Harry Reid, and House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers -- continue to work behind the scenes to scuttle the immunity clause, throwing up procedural obstacles and insisting that other committees must have a say.

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority said last week that the subway tipline had received 1,944 reports in 2006. We'll never know precisely how many terrorist acts may have been prevented because of those workaday whistleblowers. But as the Fort Dix plot -- uncovered by a retail clerk -- proves, vigilance works.
That's right, friends! The same Democrap Party that wants you to trust them to keep us safe doesn't want your help in keeping us safe. "Waaah!! It will lead to profiling!! Waaahh!!" Yes, it will lead to profiling. People will be able to build a profile of what suspicious behavior looks like, and thus help to prevent another attack.

There is good news, however. The "John Doe" provision might not be as dead as was believed (via Michelle Malkin):
Public pressure is mounting on Capitol Hill Democrats to include the "John Doe" provision into a written conference report of the final 911 Commission bill.

The provision would protect the public for reporting suspicious behavior that may be terrorist connected, and is the result of a current lawsuit against U.S. Airways and John Doe passengers filed by a group of imams who were kicked off a flight [after acting like terrorists].

"Democrats have been backed into a corner by public outrage over their efforts, so we are seeing these Democrats publicly say they support it in principle, but behind the scenes they are working to kill it," said one Republican leadership aide close to the conference process.

"There are powerful Democrats in the House and Senate trying to kill this provision, the aide said.

"Keeping the pressure on" to include the provision are Sen. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut Independent and chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, the committee's ranking member, Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine whose efforts last week fell three votes short of passing the provision to an education bill, and Rep. Pete King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee and an author of the provision.
But, hey, just ignore that Arab-looking guy getting on the plane with a thick, bundled-up winter jacket in the middle of July. He just has bad circulation. Er, something.

The Democratic Party--wasting your tax dollars since...

Get this. And this is another one of those "No, I am not making this up" deals. OK, ready? Democtratic senators Hillary Ramrod Clinton and Schmuck Chumer, both D-NY, want to take ONE MILLION DOLLARS of your tax money--you know, that money that gets taken out of your paycheck after you've earned it, then sent to the mama pig that is Washington--to build...are you ready...a
Museum at Bethel Woods, which is dedicated to recreating the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival experience and will feature “An interpretation of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Arts Fair” exhibit in 2008, according to the museum’s website. The earmark is at the request of New York Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer.
(from Americans for Prosperity, via Free Republic Online)

Yeah, that's just what the world needs! A monument to one of the largest collection of hippies, Communists, and others who are notorious for not bathing. Because, by golly, we need to remember what a filthy pig sty that weekend was.

So, is that all? Of course that's not all. Sens. Ramrod and Schmuck also want

$500,000 for the New York Botanical Garden’s Virtual Herbarium, a project to scan images of herbs and post them online. The earmark is requested by New York Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer.
Of course, they're not the only lefties who want to blow hundreds of thousands of dollars of YOUR MONEY on reseacrh into the effects of cotton candy on tooth decay. There's Vermont Senator Pat I'm-a-Leaky-Leahy
$100,000 to fund the celebration of Lake Champlain’s 400th Anniversary – an event that doesn’t take place until 2009. The earmark is at the request of Vermont Senator Pat Leahy.
And, the not-so-distinguished "gentleman" from Hawai'i, Senator Daniel In-No-Way, who wants
$250,000 for the Polynesian Voyaging Society, which includes among its programs making and sailing ancient canoes from Hawaii to Japan. The earmark is requested by Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii.
But, the winner for the "sounds like he's been appropriating funds for research into marijuana use" is none other than Tom Harkin of Iowa--
$100,000 for “Lighten Up Iowa,” an online program encouraging people to lose weight while also preaching the benefits of vegan diets. The earmark is requested by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.
So, congratulations, to all you liberals who have nothing better to do than take our hard-earned tax dollars and give them to loooney, left-wing causes. Farewewll for today. Or, as they say in your favorite country, Dasvidania!!

Schmuck Chumer--crushing dissent

What's the best way to make sure that your slave class marches in lock-step with the approved-of party? Make their votes public. At least, that's how Democrats do it, Schmuck Chumer in particluar (via Captain's Quarters):
Union leaders see enactment of the bill as the single most important step toward reversing labor’s long-term loss of membership and might. Virtually all Democrats in Congress are backing the legislation, partly because they recognize that a stronger labor movement, providing campaign contributions and volunteers, could translate into a stronger Democratic Party.
To which Captain Ed says:
How will it restore labor's position? Through intimidation and fear. Rather than conducting elections by secret ballot, the workers would be forced to fill out union cards instead, identifying them and their vote on unionization It doesn't take a genius to understand that people opposed to unionizing their workplace might feel a little intimidated if they knew that the union could identify everyone who voted against them. The unions aren't exactly known for a history of milquetoast tactics, and putting that kind of information into their hands will win them elections just from fear of retaliation.
When I worked at Pepsi, we almost went union (with the Teamsters of all people!) back in 2000. And when the movement was going, I was actually with it, even though the logical part of me was opposed. But at the time, things were not good for employees there, and the shake-up actually turned out to be a good thing. Thankfully, the vote got cancelled a week before it was going to take place.

Now, my dad was in the IBEW (electrical workers) for like a hundred years. And they were good to him. He always had work, and got paid real well, too. But that was a trade union, and in that line of work, unions are a good thing. They find work for the guys, so the workers don't have to go scouring hither and yon for work. When they get through with one job, they line up another. But in most cases, unions aren't so good. In my case, if we ever decided to strike, we would get $100 a week. Meanwhile, the people who were getting our dues would still be pretty well off.

That said, this initiative to make union votes open would be disastrous for employees. You see, union bosses have long memories. They remember who supported them, and who didn't. And if you don't think they would make life uncomfortable for the people who oppose the bosses--and the politicians they support--think again. Check out the numbers the good captain found on how much union money liberal politicians get, and tell me they're not beholden to unions.

Florida Democrats PWN3D by the People!!

From the files of Stop the ACLU:

Radio station WIOD likely will remain Broward County’s official channel for emergency information despite concerns it is also home to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

County commissioners said they were deluged with complaints from throughout the country Wednesday after they questioned whether to cut their ties with the station because of their dislike for Limbaugh. By the end of the day, a majority of commissioners vowed to renew WIOD’s agreement next week.

Now that's what I'm talking about! (Full story here.) You see, politicians can be pursuaded. If enough people call them on something, and they sense that their jobs are in danger, they will eventually come around. That's why we need to deluge our people in Washington about this stupid Amnesty Bill in the Senate. If we remind these clowns that WE hold their jobs in our polling-center-lever-pulling hands, they just might wise up and send this thing to the incinerator once and for all.

Just like these goofballs that got smacked down by the Dittoheads!

15 June 2007

I guess Democrats need some more dead voters...

to go to the polls in Florida. You know, when it comes to protecting lives, shouldn't one be able to put aside whether somebody has an "R" or a "D" after their name? I have been a die-hard Yankees fan since I was 12. And I don't mean a "Hillary Clinton lifelong Yankees fan" either. A few years ago, during a Yanks-Red Sox game, Clay Bellinger was at bat, and lined a wicked shot right straight back up the middle--and into Bryce Florie's face. You could hear the impact from the cheap seats. At that point, the name on the uniforms didn't matter. Yankees fans rallied around, and wished the best for their rival. And the sympathy was greatly appreciated by the Red Sox Nation.

But, alas, Democrats are just too stubborn. Their Bush Derangement Syndrome has adapted into an even more virulant strain. So much so that they don't care if people live or die. They just want to have a little poo-poo party because they would have to broadcast on the same station that carries Rush Limbaugh's show (via Stop the ACLU):
Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to Limbaugh’s talk show…..

Ken Charles, WIOD’s director of AM programming, said Tuesday the station’s talk show lineup has no relationship with its news coverage and that the county should focus on the benefits of teaming with the station. “It’s a shame that people would let politics get in the way of saving lives in a hurricane,” Charles said.
You know, ya gotta love Rush. When some big story comes up, involving him and his haters, he always comes through with logic and common sense, two things that drive liberals batty (via South Florida Sun-Sentinel):
Limbaugh responded to the commissioners Wednesday on his radio show. He said the county's qualms about WIOD are a sign of out-of-control partisanship in the nation. He quipped that if the county wanted him off the air, all that officials would need to do is schedule emergency press conferences during his broadcast from noon to 3 p.m.

"They are politicizing the delivery of emergency news, which is non-partisan," said Limbaugh, who lives in Palm Beach. "They are making weather a partisan issue."

Limbaugh has long been a fixture on WIOD, but no county official raised an issue about him or the other shows when the deal was approved for the first time a year ago.

The deal with WIOD would ensure that news conferences are broadcast start to finish live from the county Emergency Operations Center in Plantation. Emergency managers became concerned during hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 that radio and television stations preempted their announcements in favor of news out of Miami.

[...]

Judy Sarver, the county's public communications director, said WFTL and WLRN also offered to take on the role, but that she and other emergency planners preferred WIOD because of its signal strength, numerous FM sister stations and willingness to give Broward top play.
This could actually work in Democrats' favor, though, since they rely so heavily on the votes of dead people. And the more dead people there are in Broward County, the better chances that the Democratic candidates will have. Besides, the dead people can probably read the ballot card better than the living voters in Palm Beach County.

Georgia voter ID law stands!

In a blow to many Democratic candidates, the Georgia Supreme Court has shown liberals everywhere (especially places like Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.) that, um, you can't just walk into a polling place, say that you are John Doe, and pull the lever. Especially if (as is the case in Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.) John Doe is dead. (Via the Boston Herald):
For months, lawyers have been battling over the law, one of several passed recently across the country.

Opponents claim the photo ID law will disenfranchise minorities, the poor and the elderly
[and illegal immigrants] who don’t have a driver’s license or other valid government-issued photo ID.

The law’s mostly Republican supporters
[emphasis mine. But notice they just had to throw that little nugget in there] say it is needed to prevent voter fraud and preserve the integrity of the electoral system. No examples of in-person voter fraud have been presented, though the proposal’s backers often mention the threat of non-citizens casting illegal ballots.

Monday’s ruling, written by Justice Harold Melton, said that plaintiff Rosalind Lake was not harmed by the voter ID law and lacked standing to challenge the law in the first place.
[like most liberals who don't like laws that make it harder to break the law] Lake was exempt from the law because she was a first-time voter and therefore allowed to vote person (sic) without showing a photo ID, Melton wrote.
Uh, here's an idea. Since voters need to register (isn't that an "undue burden"?), why not issue voter registration cards with the person's picture on it??? There! Problem solved! Now the only people who will be disenfranchised will be dead voters, who almost always vote Democrat.

¿Tiene Carta Verde?

Apparently, in Harry Reid's universe, you don't need one. (For all you non-Spanish speakers, the title of the post says, "¿Got Green Card?") Because, according to The Dingy One (via Michelle Malkin):
This week, we will vote on cloture and final passage of a comprehensive bill that will strengthen border security, bring the 12 million undocumented Americans out of the shadows, and keep our economy strong. In the days ahead, we will work to improve the bill to protect and strengthen family ties while improving the structure of the temporary-worker program.
Um, excuse me. What did I miss here? 12 million people who came into this country illegally, who had no respect for our borders or our soveriegnty or our laws, many of whom come here to do us harm, and rob our welfare system...since when do we consider them to be Americans? Well, I guess when you're desperate to hang on to the House and Senate majority you worked so hard to get, and you really want to win the White House, you want to sign up as many new Democratic voters as you can.

Liberals: selectively outraged

OK, so let me get this straight.
But oh, let a kid at Fox News put in a tape of John Conyers instead of William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, and MoonbatLand goes into full revolt!!! Hey, lay off the kid. It's hard to tell one corrupt Democrat......from another.

FREEDOM EDEN: 30 Months for Scooter Libby

Scooter libby was sentenced today to 30 months because he has a bad memory. I wonder how much Nancy Pelosi could get for forgetting that she was going to clean up Congress.

For all you liberals that think that Libby ought to get the electric chair because he couldn't remember the answer on "Final Jeopardy", FreedomEden would like to remind you about a certain other fellow who seemed to have a bad memory. But, that was okay.

"Cold Cash" Jefferson indicted

From Stop the ACLU comes the story that we have been waiting for, and that Queen Nan from SanFran has been waiting...to cover up. Yep, she and Dingy Harry and Schmuck Chumer and all their buddies are going to deal with corrpution forcefully! They're going to get rid of the "culture of corruption", by gum! Or, maybe not.
Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., was indicted Monday on federal charges of racketeering, soliciting bribes and money-laundering in a long- running bribery investigation into business deals he tried to broker in Africa. The indictment handed up in federal court in Alexandria., Va., Monday is more than an inch thick and list 16 alleged violations of federal law that could keep Jefferson in prison for up to 200 years.
Here we go, folks! second verse (actually, I think we're up to, like, verse 10 or something), same as the first:
THIS WILL BE THE MOST ETHICAL CONGRESS EVER!!
Sure thing, Queen Nan. So, when ya gonna whip out that royal scepter and drum ol' Willy C-Note out of your "most ethical congress ever"?? Eh, you're probably right. I doubt she will either. But, that's what the American voters get for believing that Democrats would want to have anything to do with ethics. Oh, by the way...

"Most ethical congress ever"--Google it.
