MoDo: Rhymes with...

the name of a bird that has been extinct for a while. Maybe...this?

Caught this over at Pillage Idiot. From the depths of the wit and wisdom that is DoDo MoDo:
Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue, as the gloriously gay Oscar Wilde said. And gays are the sacrifice that hypocritical Republican candidates offer to placate “values” voters — even though some candidates are not so finicky about morals regarding their own affairs and divorces.
Boy, that's just clever. Uhh, wait a minute. What's that? Oscar Wilde didn't say that? You mean somebody fact-checked her MoDoNess? Yes they did, and this is what they found:
As [Steven] Berkowitz [A letter-writer to the NY Slimes] notes, however, that wasn't Oscar Wilde's line at all. "Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue" (which, by the way, is a brilliant observation) belongs to La Rochefoucauld, as even an elementary Google search would have disclosed, to say nothing of actually cracking open a dictionary of quotations.

But that would have distracted from Dowd's narrative, which is that a line from a gay author showed that Romney is a hypocrite on gays in the military, as are all the other Republican presidential candidates. (She, on the other hand, thinks the war in Iraq is a crime, but it's a scandal that gays aren't allowed to die in it.)
But, it's us, the right-wing bloggers, who don't have any accountability, and just throw stuff out there, and can't be trusted. Er, something.

Uhh, Keith, take your meds, dude

Come on the risin' wind,
We're goin' up around the bend!!
--Creedence Clearwater Revival

Well, Keith "If somebody doesn't watch my show, then I'm going home!!" Olbermann isn't just going around the bend. He's done gone around it, and he's-a heading downhill...fast (via Newsbusters):
OLBERMANN, AT 8:29 PM: Since last August, there had been a period of calm, the screaming, hair-on-fire pronouncements about terror plots, that may have had real plotters but no real conceivable chance of actually happening, had ceased. That period spanned between the 2006 midterm elections and the week we reached exactly 18 months until the 2008 presidential election -- just a coincidence. Our third story in the Countdown, from the mindbending idea that four guys dressed as pizza delivery men were going to outgun all the soldiers at Fort Dix, to the not-too-thought-out plan to blow up JFK Airport by lighting a match 40 miles away, here we go again. Time for an update of our segment, the "Nexus of Politics and Terror," instances now 13 in number when those two worlds have overlapped and we are reminded by our government, with or without justification, that we should always fear "fear itself." We offer two prefaces tonight. One, the words of Dennis Milligan, the new state chairman of the Republican Party in Arkansas, who says about Iraq to the newspaper the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, quote, "At the end of the day, I believe fully the President is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [September 11, 2001], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country."
Does anybody really take this guy seriously? I mean, I know that there are probably a few dozen people that actually watch his show. And the rest of his "audience" is made up of stoner college kids working at Wal-Mart that turn all the TV's in the electronic secion to PMSNBC to try and bump up his ratings. But does anybody with a brain really think he knows what he's talking about?

Listen Keith, just because these terrorists aren't too bright, doesn't mean that their hatred for America is any less than, say, yours, or Cindy Sheehan's. And I know you may not think your ever-intuitive mind needs help, but Dennis Milligan was NOT saying he was hoping for an attack. It's kinda like saying "All we need is for someone to get killed at that intersection. Then the city will see we need to put up a red light."

Now go and take your meds like a good boy.

More from "The Most Ethical Congress...EVER!!!"

Hard to believe Pravda CNN turning on their own. But they did, and showed an expose' on Congress' wasteful spending (via Hot Air).

I'm confused. Wasn't Queen Nancy going to reign in spending? wasn't she going to take her royal scepter and smash through all the pork?

Nah, I didn't think so either. You've got to watch the video. I love how Robert "Grand Dragon of the KKK" Byrd says that if earmarks were made public, tehre would be more of them. But, that's a glimpse inside the mind of a liberal.

Today's episode is brought to you...

by the letter "D". That stands for "dishonest", "distatseful", and "Democrats". And the drumbeat continues. The question again, in case you missed it any of the other times I asked it: Isn't this supposed to be "The Most Ethical Congress Ever"? Weren't Queen Nan and Dingy Harry going to clean up Washington, and reign in the whole "Culture of Corruption" thingy? Eh, not so much. From Robert Novak's Town Hall column:
WASHINGTON -- Democrats controlling the House of Representatives demonstrated this month the hollowness of their claim that they have ended the corruption of 12 Republican years. Rep. John Murtha quietly slipped into the Intelligence authorization bill two earmarks costing taxpayers $5.5 million. The beneficiary was a contractor headquartered in Murtha's hometown of Johnstown, Pa., whose executives have been generous political contributors to the powerful 17-term congressman.

This scandalous conduct would be unknown except for reforms by the new Democratic majority. But the remodeled system is not sufficiently transparent to expose in a timely manner machinations of Murtha and fellow earmarkers to his colleagues, much less to the public. It took Republican Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona, the leading House earmark-buster, to discover the truth.

[...]

Nor do Democrats show interest in curbing earmarks. Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, Pelosi's hand-picked Intelligence Committee chairman, blamed non-disclosure of earmarks on a mistake by the Government Printing Office. House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey first skirted the new rules by claiming no earmarks were contained in the supplemental appropriations. Last week, he decreed that henceforth, earmarks in his bills would not be revealed until a measure passes both the House and Senate. The test for Democrats is what they will do about Murtha now that it is known he rewards contributors with federal funds.
No, don't you understand, it's the REPUBLICANS that are the bad people!! The Democrats only use your money for good things! Hey, are you questioning the Democrats' patriotism?

Is there funny stuff going on on both sides of the aisle? Yes. Is it ever going to end? Who knows. But this country got bamboozled by Queen Nan from SanFran and the rest of her liberal cronies, and we're paying for it.

Na-na-na-na. Hey hey hey! GOODBYE!!!

Cindy Sheehan, the patron saint of the anti-American left, has announced that she is retiring from her career of pandering to homocidal dictators and leeching off of the memory of her dead son (via SeeBS News):
"I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost," Sheehan said.

"I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources," she said.

In announcing her decision in a statement released to the liberal blog Daily Kos, Sheehan said the protest had taken an enormous physical and emotional toll on her.

Sheehan said she had sacrificed a 29-year marriage and endured threats to put all her energy into cashing in on the memory of her dead son to travel around the world and hobnob with murderous dictators stopping the war.
Well boo-flippin'-hoo. I guess she finally came to the realization that the American public was fed up with her charade, her Anti-American gestures in photo-opping with Hugo Chavez, and her genral obnoxiousness. Bye-bye, Cindy!

Oh, and I love how Mama Sheehan ends her "resignation letter":
This is my resignation letter as the “face” of the American anti-war movement. This is not my “Checkers” moment, because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources.

Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless you want it.

It’s up to you now.
Oh no!!! What are we going to do now??? Why, this country has only existed for 200+ years without the sagacious wisdom of Saint Cindy!! we're doomed I say, DOOMED!!!!

Uh, Cindy, we never asked you to open your flap in the first place. We sure ain't gonna miss ya. Now, please, go, and take Alec Baldwin with you.

Dispicable!

Leave it to liberals to do something like this:

According to the San Juan (WA) Islander,
Vandals twice attacked Veterans' graves in Woodlawn Cemetery on Orcas Island this Memorial Day weekend, burning American flags and placing swastika-bearing flags in their place.
But, say it with me folks, "DON'T QUESTION THEIR PATRIOTISM!!" These people love America! They're doing their patriotic duty and voicing their dissent! (/sarcasm off)

If these people want to protest, fine. If they want to shout "Down with America!", fine. But you know, this just goes to show what cowards liberals are. They sneak in, the middle of might, when no one's around, and do this to graves of people who fought and spilled their blood (*language warning*) so these jackasses could live in a country that isn't dominated by the very people these little flags represent.

And right now, they're sitting in their little coffee shop, sipping their stupid little lattes, patting themselves on the back for the "heroic" deed they did. I'm sure they'll look back 20 years from now, and giggle to themselves, and tee-hee with their little Communist friends abotu what they did. These people are truly disgusting. Or, maybe they're just doing what John Edwards encouraged them to do. This is from Freedom Eden:
The disgraceful John Edwards is leading an effort to hijack Memorial Day and exploit it to advance his own political agenda.

He established a website enlisting volunteers to join him in protesting the war in Iraq and "reclaim patriotism."
And this is from The Dread Pundit Bluto:
From the $400 haircut assweasel's Memorial Day hate site:

Get vocal. Buy a bunch of poster-board and markers. At a picnic or with family and friends, make signs that say “SUPPORT THE TROOPS - END THE WAR.” Bring them to your local Memorial Day parade. Then take a digital photo of yourself and your family or friends holding up the poster and tell us about it. We’ll include it in a “Democracy Photo Album” on our site.
Well, Silky Pony, these people did what you told them to do. How ya feeling now?

Hitchens: a sad, little man

He may have a bunch of money from books he's written. He may party and drink and carouse all the time. But I'll tell you what, I would NOT want to be Christopher Hitchens. If that man isn't the saddest, most miserable man on the planet, I don't know who is. Of course, I'd be sad too is I had to wake up everyday and fight against a GOD that is bigger than me, and bigger than the planet I live on.

Over at Hog On Ice, Steve H. writes about going to a Hitchens speaking engagement at a synagogue(!), and listening to this poor fellow ramble on about his incoherent and juxtaposed arguments against GOD:
I saw nothing new here. "Life is hard. Scripture doesn't seem to make sense. God was pretty harsh in the Old Testament. Therefore God is a myth." It was facile. It was a parade of clumsily constructed, transparent straw men. It was bigoted. It was deliberately offensive, either because Hitchens despises the church or because he just wants to sell books. There wasn't one second of warmth or humility or compassion or tolerance in it. It was trite, predictable, and shopworn. And the boobs in the crowd ate it up because, like Hitchens, they had already decided they hated God before they showed up.

It's a funny world we live in. Believing in a God you have never seen makes you close-minded and hateful, but being sure that God does not exist and exhibiting coarse, overt hostility to religion proves your mind is open and you love all humanity.

I can only assume that at one point in his childhood, Hitchens was spanked too hard by a nun. Something happened that turned him against God, and whatever it was, he has decided to make the rest of us pay for it. Anger this strong cannot possibly be based in reason.

You know how atheists are. Grammy or Grampy or Fluffy dies, or Sister Mary hits them one too many times with the steel ruler, and God gains a lifelong enemy.

MSNBC: fact-checker needed immediately

WANTED: Fact-checker. Must be able to distinguish between websites which disseminate actual news, and sites that are simply satire. Needed immediately. Apply to: MSNBC.

What has been the hue and cry of left-wing media outlets like ABC, NBC, CBS, and Pravda CNN when talking about bloggers, especially those of us on the right? That we don't check our facts, that we're a bunch of knee-jerk neocons. Well, that theory fell apart last night on PMSNBC, during a discussion concerning the late Rev. Jerry Falwell.

Apparently, the folks over at PMSNBC don't know how to check their facts before they put something on the air. Case in point, an exchange last night between between Chrissy Matthews and Contessa Brewer on Matthews' show Goofball Screwball Hardball (via Hot Air). Ms. Brewer contends that whitehouse.org was quoted as saying that Rev. Falwell was
"...the de facto executive director of domestic and global policy for the White House."
Problem: whitehouse.org is a PARODY SITE!! Not only is it NOT the official White House website, it is in fact and Anti-Bush website, and not a whole lot of what they say is factual. This would be like somebody saying that they get their facts from Keith "Hey! You! I'll pay you ten bucks to watch my show" Olbermann.

But, our intrepid Ms. Brewer just can't bring herself to admit that her staffer got PWN3D, and simply blathers somthing about whitehouse.org pushing some idea that Falwell influenced Bush's policies, blah blah blah. The funny thing is, the poeople at PMSNBC and the 100 or so people who watch it on a regular basis actually believe that it is an information network.

I wonder about the people who make up the "layers of fact-checking" that the Drive-By media brag about. Do they consider it news if it appears in Weekly World News, or does The Onion have to verify it?
