Church cancels "gay" celebration

Contrary to what has been blathered about on left-wing kook sites like Daily Kos, High Point Church did not cancel Cecil Sinclair's memorial service because he was gay. They cancelled because the family wanted the service to be a celebration of his gay lifestyle. And unlike many politically correct, liberal, Bible-ignoring churches (*cough* Episcopal *cough*) this church stood firm on biblical principles, and that rankled the family, so of course they had to slander the church as being "insensitive" (via Sister Toldjah):

Here are the facts. High Point Church, a non-denominational church in Arlington, Texas, had been praying for Cecil Sinclair after Cecil’s brother Lee (the only member of the Sinclair family who was a member of the church) requested prayer for his brother who had been awaiting a heart transplant.

When Cecil Sinclair’s health became critical last week, the family called a staff member from the church to be with them at the hospital. In the hospital, in the moments immediately following Mr. Sinclair’s death, the family asked the staff member if the church would be open to holding a memorial service for their loved one. The staff member assured them the church would be available to help the family in any way appropriate, a response any pastor would give in that situation.

Cecil was not a member of High Point Church, yet this church selflessly and sacrificially ministered to his family in the wake of his death, preparing and delivering food for the family and one hundred relatives and friends, along with many other expressions of kindness. The church offered to produce a video retrospective of Mr. Sinclair’s life for use during the memorial service. When the family provided the pictures to the church it was then that the church learned of their intention to make the memorial service a celebration of Cecil Sinclair’s gay lifestyle. According to a statement on the High Point Church Web site, one of the photos provided by the family showed a man touching another man inappropriately, along with other unsuitable photos.

The family also requested that “an associate of an openly homosexual choir” officiate at the service and that the homosexual choir sing during the service. “It became clear to the church staff that the family was requesting an openly homosexual service at High Point Church—which is not our policy to allow,” the statement on the church’s Web site said. After initially agreeing to host the memorial service, the church informed the family it could no longer do so based on the direction the family wanted to take it. The church then secured—and paid for—another location for the memorial service, which the family declined. The church also produced the memorial video without the inappropriate photos.

Contrary to the mainstream media reports, High Point Church did not refuse to host the funeral of a gay man. The church refused on biblical principle to allow a celebration of the homosexual lifestyle in its sanctuary, a decision most theologically sound churches would make under similar circumstances.

But, don't wait for an apology from The Associated Press, or Daily Kooks Kos. After all, that wouldn't fit in with their firmly entrenched beliefs that we Christians are a bunch of insensitive, hateful Neanderthals. John Hawkins add more at Right Wing News.

Rove to resign, dKos begins drooling

Karl Rove--the mastermind behind the Bush II White House, 9/11, the Valarie Plame fiasco, the Iraq War, AIDS, Watergate, Hitler, and the War of 1812--will resign at the end of August (via WSJ Online):

Karl Rove is quitting the Bush White House.

In an interview with Wall Street Journal editorial page Editor Paul Gigot, Mr. Rove says he thinks "it's just time," that he's "got to do this for the sake of my family," and that he would have left earlier but didn't want to depart on the sour note of last fall's Republican rout by Democrats in the midterm elections. So effective Aug. 31, Mr. Rove says, he will relinquish the job of White House deputy chief of staff and longtime role of political overseer for the career of President Bush.

So to all you at the Daily Kooks Kos, the Puffington Host, and all the other rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth left -wing sites out there, you won't have to worry about ol' Rover pulling another 9/11 (/sarc).

Daily Kos: The dunghill of the internet

Especially when they post a pile of hot, steaming...well, you know...like this (I will warn you now, if you are easily offended by vulgar language, don't click the link):

So yes, I resent my support for the killing of Iraqis for which I get not even a memento or trophy. But do I still support the individual men and women who have given so much to serve their country? No. I think they’re a bunch of idiots. I also think they’re morally retarded. Because they sign a contract that says they will kill whoever you tell me to kill.

And that is morally retarded. Friends, the most important moral decision a man makes in the course of a day is "Who am I going to kill today?" That’s a decision you should agonize over, dream about, rehearse in your mind for hours, not just leave up to some hare-brained President you didn’t even vote for. A man’s killing list is a very personal matter. It should be between him and those persistent voices in his head.

So to sum up, I don’t like our troops, I don’t like what they’re doing, I don’t like their fat, whining families, and yet, I support them. Thank God I live in a free country. Thank You.
