MoDo: Rhymes with...

the name of a bird that has been extinct for a while. Maybe...this?

Caught this over at Pillage Idiot. From the depths of the wit and wisdom that is DoDo MoDo:
Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue, as the gloriously gay Oscar Wilde said. And gays are the sacrifice that hypocritical Republican candidates offer to placate “values” voters — even though some candidates are not so finicky about morals regarding their own affairs and divorces.
Boy, that's just clever. Uhh, wait a minute. What's that? Oscar Wilde didn't say that? You mean somebody fact-checked her MoDoNess? Yes they did, and this is what they found:
As [Steven] Berkowitz [A letter-writer to the NY Slimes] notes, however, that wasn't Oscar Wilde's line at all. "Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue" (which, by the way, is a brilliant observation) belongs to La Rochefoucauld, as even an elementary Google search would have disclosed, to say nothing of actually cracking open a dictionary of quotations.

But that would have distracted from Dowd's narrative, which is that a line from a gay author showed that Romney is a hypocrite on gays in the military, as are all the other Republican presidential candidates. (She, on the other hand, thinks the war in Iraq is a crime, but it's a scandal that gays aren't allowed to die in it.)
But, it's us, the right-wing bloggers, who don't have any accountability, and just throw stuff out there, and can't be trusted. Er, something.

What else can I say but, "Thank You!!!" Update: Spot-on video added!

It would be careless of me to end this day, the 63rd anniversary of D-Day, without saluting the brave men who stormed the beach, scaled the cliffs, and kicked the living...well, you know...out of Hitler's war machine. To any and all who are still living, and are reading this. Or if you have a father, uncle, grandfather, etc. May I take this moment to say...

THANK YOU!!!

UPDATE--Special video which shows how the drive-by media would have covered the landing, and the subsequent body counts (via Hot Air):

Uhh, Keith, take your meds, dude

Come on the risin' wind,
We're goin' up around the bend!!
--Creedence Clearwater Revival

Well, Keith "If somebody doesn't watch my show, then I'm going home!!" Olbermann isn't just going around the bend. He's done gone around it, and he's-a heading downhill...fast (via Newsbusters):
OLBERMANN, AT 8:29 PM: Since last August, there had been a period of calm, the screaming, hair-on-fire pronouncements about terror plots, that may have had real plotters but no real conceivable chance of actually happening, had ceased. That period spanned between the 2006 midterm elections and the week we reached exactly 18 months until the 2008 presidential election -- just a coincidence. Our third story in the Countdown, from the mindbending idea that four guys dressed as pizza delivery men were going to outgun all the soldiers at Fort Dix, to the not-too-thought-out plan to blow up JFK Airport by lighting a match 40 miles away, here we go again. Time for an update of our segment, the "Nexus of Politics and Terror," instances now 13 in number when those two worlds have overlapped and we are reminded by our government, with or without justification, that we should always fear "fear itself." We offer two prefaces tonight. One, the words of Dennis Milligan, the new state chairman of the Republican Party in Arkansas, who says about Iraq to the newspaper the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, quote, "At the end of the day, I believe fully the President is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [September 11, 2001], and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country."
Does anybody really take this guy seriously? I mean, I know that there are probably a few dozen people that actually watch his show. And the rest of his "audience" is made up of stoner college kids working at Wal-Mart that turn all the TV's in the electronic secion to PMSNBC to try and bump up his ratings. But does anybody with a brain really think he knows what he's talking about?

Listen Keith, just because these terrorists aren't too bright, doesn't mean that their hatred for America is any less than, say, yours, or Cindy Sheehan's. And I know you may not think your ever-intuitive mind needs help, but Dennis Milligan was NOT saying he was hoping for an attack. It's kinda like saying "All we need is for someone to get killed at that intersection. Then the city will see we need to put up a red light."

Now go and take your meds like a good boy.

Liberals: selectively outraged

OK, so let me get this straight.
But oh, let a kid at Fox News put in a tape of John Conyers instead of William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, and MoonbatLand goes into full revolt!!! Hey, lay off the kid. It's hard to tell one corrupt Democrat......from another.

AlGore's new book, "Assault on Reason" is really

an insult to our intelligence. I haven't read it, I'm not going to. I don't need some tree-hugging dirt-worshipper to tell me about some myth he has about "man-made global warming", when he himself spends over $1300 A MONTH on his light bill (But he buys carbon offsets!! That makes him wonderful!! Yeah, whatever. See definition of "carbon offsets" at the right). Well, apparently Joy "Hey, it's me!! the loudmouthed redhead from 'The View'" Behar has jumped, feet-first, into the swirling cesspool that is the mind of Al "ManBearPig" Gore. Once again, from The Anchoress:
I haven’t read the thing, itself, but I have now read several accounts of Al Gore’s new book, Assault on Reason, wherein he wags fingers at people who watch TV (unless, of course, they’re watching him pimp his book) and the media (particularly those who don’t stick to reporting only his side, of the “manmade” global warming story) and - by all accounts - he trashes the Bush 43 administration from start to finish, enumerating all of Bush’s “lies” and mistakes.

I’ve seen similar lists throughout the web - the collective is circulating it in order to really drill home to everyone who may not yet be fully convinced that George W. Bush is the worst, most evil man ever born from woman (if that is what Barbara Bush may be called) and also the stupidest evil super genius imaginable.

I read a transcript of the execrable morning program The View in which Joy Behar, a Gore-adoree of the first water, reads from one of these lists:

[...]

Oh, I think it’s definitely time. Let’s do it - let’s impeach President Bush, let’s have all of this brought forward and get it all investigated and put on the real, actual record, instead of in someone’s book of dreams and opinions or in a convenient, “bumperstickeresqe” meme. Let’s get all the tawdry lists and narratives together and finally get them “on the record and testified to.” We can start with the Gore/Behar list:
You really need to do yourself a favor and read her whole post. She goes through Ms. Behar's incoherent screed, point by point, and shatters all the myths and pipe dreams of all the sad little liberals.

Ms. Plame couldn't have lied, could she?

No, of course not. She was just a pawn, an innocent victim of the Rove-Bushco-Halliburton machine. Or, not (via Iowa Voice):
The lovely Mrs Wilson testified on Capitol Hill a couple of months ago, once again capturing the hearts of our friends on the left, who are, as always, seeking ammunition to use against President Bush. Trouble is, the Intelligence Committee Vice-Chairman, Senator Christopher Bond (R-MO), did his homework (or at least his staff did!), and it turns out that Mrs Wilson lied under oath. In Fact-Checking Valerie Plame Wilson, Pt. 1, National Review’s Byron York documents Senator Bond’s report. In her recent testimony, Mrs Wilson flatly either recommending or suggesting that her husband be sent to Niger for his famous fact-finding mission. Mrs Wilson continued that her “quick e-mail” of February 12, 2002, was taken out of context, to “make it seem as though I had suggested or recommended him.”

Senator Bond published the entire February 12, 2002 memo by Mrs Wilson:

The report forwarded below has prompted me to send this on to you and request your comments and opinion. Briefly, it seems that Niger has signed a contract with Iraq to sell them uranium. The IC [Intelligence Community] is getting spun up about this for obvious reasons. The embassy in Niamey has taken the position that this report can’t be true — they have such cozy relations with the GON [Government of Niger] that they would know if something like this transpired.

So where do I fit in? As you may recall, [redacted] of CP/[office 2] recently approached my husband to possibly use his contacts in Niger to investigate [a separate Niger matter]. After many fits and starts, [redacted] finally advised that the station wished to pursue this with liaison. My husband is willing to help, if it makes sense, but no problem if not. End of story.

Now, with this report, it is clear that the IC is still wondering what is going on… my husband has good relations with both the PM and the former minister of mines, not to mention lots of French contacts, both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity. To be frank with you, I was somewhat embarrassed by the agency’s sloppy work last go-round, and I am hesitant to suggest anything again. However, [my husband] may be in a position to assist. Therefore, request your thoughts on what, if anything, to pursue here. Thank you for your time on this.
Let's see. Scooter Libby got how long for having a bad memory? How long of a sentence do you think the liberal left will recommend Ms. Plame-Wilson receive? Yeah, I thought so too.

This used to be called "treason"

And the perpetrators and thier accomplices were summarily punished in a way that befits traitors. But now, it's called "journalism". Angelina Jolie just absolutely gushed about what difficult job journalists have (The linked article doesn't do the gushing justice). Yeah, whatever. All they do these days is slink around in dark alleys, conspiring with people who want to kill us, and pass along to them secrets about how we are trying to fight them. Like this (via Hot Air):
"Industrial sabotage is a way to stop the program, without military action, without fingerprints on the operation, and really, it is ideal, if it works," says Mark Fitzpatrick, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Non-Proliferation and now Senior Fellow in Non-Proliferation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Sources in several countries involved told CBS News that the intelligence operatives involved include former Russian nuclear scientists and Iranians living abroad. Operatives have sold Iran components with flaws that are difficult to detect, making them unstable or unusable.

"One way to sabotage a program is to make minor modifications in some of the components Iran obtains on the black market, and because it's a black market … you don't know exactly who you are dealing with," Fitzpatrick says.
[...]

There is other evidence, CBS News was told, that some of the technical difficulties Iran is having in consistently running its centrifuges are the results of a concerted effort at industrial sabotage.

Sources familiar with the U.S. effort against Iran tell CBS News that U.S. intelligence agencies have run several programs in recent years, employing different techniques, including modifying components in hard-to-detect ways and making subtle changes to technical documents and drawings, rendering them useless.
Isn't there some law that talks about "giving aid to the enemy"?And if I'm not mistaken, when a president takes an oath of office, he swears to fight "enemies, both foreign and domestic". I think that ought to start with the traitors at CNN, ABC, They New York Slimes, and SeeBS. Throw a few of those clowns in jail, and see how much longer they coddle the enemy.

Liberal: see "immature, childlike"

Apparently, liberals believe in freedom of speech...so long as you agree with them (via RightWingNews):
"It looks like they took globs of paint and threw it on his face. It looks great. It did my heart good," said [Baltimore City Works spokesman Robert] Murrow, who admittedly is not a Limbaugh fan.
Oh, yeah, vandalism. So funny. But, it does seem that Mayor Sheila Dixon does have a few brain cells left:
"Earlier today, an employee of City Government expressed his personal opinion regarding a vandalized billboard in Baltimore," [ Dixon wrote. "While this employee identified himself as a spokesperson for the Department of Public Works, I want to stress that his feelings about the vandalism are his alone; his statement does not represent the position of City Government or my feelings as Mayor.

"Whether they occur on public or private property, I take all acts of vandalism seriously. It is a crime and won't be tolerated in Baltimore."
And how did El Rushbo take it? Did he cry and scream and carry on like a liberal child? Nah. His response? "They ought to leave it up there, and put this sentence next to it: Find out what the left doesn't want you to hear!" Can you imagine someone doing that to a Hillary¡ sign? Oh my gosh, the left would be crying in their pudding. That's because they don't have a sense of humor, and don't know how to handle being attacked like big boys do.

CORRECTION:It was not the Maha-Rushi that came us with this idea. From the radio Transcript at his website:

Hang on. I just got a great e-mail here and I gotta print this out. I gotta read it out to you.

[...]
The great e-mail suggests, "Don't touch it. Leave it alone. Just add one line: 'Listen and see what the left doesn't want you to hear.' Leave the billboard defaced. Leave the paint up there. Add a little line: 'Listen and see what the left doesn't want you to hear.'" I think that's a great idea. I don't know. They said they were going to start fixing and repairing the billboard today and they may have already started. I don't know if it's too late. But if it's not too late, you guys in Baltimore might want to think about that. It doesn't bother me, actually funny.
