Welcome to Colorado--The Nanny State

Can someone help me out here? Does anyone else remember how, as a child, we could run around, and have recess, and fall down, and get scrapes and bumps and bruises, and skinned knees? And our parents didn't have to sign a release form allowing us to play hopscotch lest we fell down, got a boo-boo and had to be rushed to the ER. That was part of being a kid! falling down, and learning how to deal with pain!

It's bad enough kids these days can't play dodgeball because some kids are better than others, and that hurts theiw widdow feewins. But now, to up the ante in the game of "Who can be more of a ninny?", a school in Colorado has banned children from playing "Tag" (via My FOX Colorado):
A Colorado Springs elementary school is banning the game of tag on its playground -- after some children complained that they'd been chased or harassed against their will.

Assistant Principal Cindy Fesgen of the Discovery Canyon Campus school says running games will be allowed, as long as students don't chase each other.

Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban, but most parents and children didn't object.

Two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in 2005 in favor of alternatives with less physical contact.

School officials say that encouraged more students to play games, and helped reduce playground squabbles.

That's right. We wouldn't want children to learn how to handle things like "playground squabbles" on their own, or have to go through the gut-wrenching emotional torment and existential crises caused by "playground squabbles". After all, that's what therapists are for. And they have to eat too, ya know.

Let me clue these folks in on something. Last year, I worked with a daycare's summer program, which included 1st thru 6th graders. Do you know what the kids in 4th-6th wanted to play? Balltag. It's kinda like a cross between baseball and dodgeball. They'd sling the ball at each other, and sometimes you could hear the "tang" sound really well. But dod they ever cry? No. They CHOSE to do it, and they had fun.

These people need to let these kids run around, chase each other, and learn how to be kids, and how to work out some of their own problems without adults coming and riding to the rescue and sheltering them from life, and teaching them that every time something happens, someone is going to fix it for them. Because as they grow up--and when they get into adulthood--they're going to expect that.

More wisdom from Obama

Oy! It's bad enough Osama Obama is saying that the Supreme Court should make rulings based on feeeelings rather than, say, the Constitution. Now he's saying that we should have sex-ed classes...IN KINDERGARTEN. I am not making this...ah, just read for yourself (via The Jawa Report):
ABC News' Teddy Davis and Lindsey Ellerson Report: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Planned Parenthood Tuesday that sex education for kindergarteners, as long as it is "age-appropriate," is "the right thing to do."

"I remember Alan Keyes . . . I remember him using this in his campaign against me," Obama said in reference to the conservative firebrand who ran against him for the U.S. Senate in 2004.
In addition to local schools informing kindergarteners that babies do not come from the stork, the state legislation Obama supported in Illinois, which contained an "opt out" provision for parents, also envisioned teaching kindergarteners about "inappropriate touching," according to Obama's presidential campaign. Despite Obama's support, the legislation was not enacted.
Now, that doesn't sound so bad, does it? On the surface, no. But you need to remember something: When a liberal wants to introduce something to children in school, it is merely a stepping stone. They start off nice and easy, nothing too upsetting. Then, litttle by little, they start adding stuff that advances their agenda, and before you know it, schools aren't for education, they're for indoctrinating children (see this post).

If anyone can tell me why this guy should be president, and give clear, concrete reasons why this country should be led by this left-wing pandering liberal, please tell me. Because there is nothing about Osama bin Barack Obama that looks or sounds like he shoud be president.

Thannx too publik ejukashun...

Me too am smart. Me can holed sine at demmunstrashun. And just liek my frend sayz, "Hukked On Eboniks wurkked fore me!!" (via Captian's Quarters):

SIGN READS "Let ARE kids walk!!"

These kids spend years in school, on taxpayer dime, supposedly getting an education in how to...oh, I don't know...read, write, spell, add 2 and 2 to get something other than 5. But, nah, I guess the teachers are too busy with their indoctrination classes in homosexuality and evolution to give a flip about actually teaching kids things they might need to know to get a job.

Nope, no gay agenda here!

In what, to me, has got to be one of the most pathetic examples of teachers pushing their gay agenda on kids, comes this story out of Chicago (via Chicago Tribune):
CHICAGO — A girl and her grandparents have sued the Chicago Board of Education, alleging that a substitute teacher showed the R-rated film "Brokeback Mountain" in class.

The lawsuit claims that Jessica Turner, 12, suffered psychological distress after viewing the movie in her 8th grade class at Ashburn Community Elementary School last year.
No warning, no permission slips for parents to sign. She just plugged the tape in and forced her views on a class of 8th-graders. Can you say "INDOCTRINATION"? And just to show you what a wonderful teacher this crackpot is, check this out:
The substitute asked a student to shut the classroom door at the West Side school, saying: "What happens in Ms. Buford's class stays in Ms. Buford's class," according to the lawsuit.
This buffoon ought to be fired, and have an alert go out to school districts all across the country, warning them about what a schlub she is. Normally, I really don't have much use for lawsuits. But I hope these parents, and others, hire a really good lawyer, sue this school district for all it has, and run show the world just what kind of "learning" environments their children are being exposed to.
