The day that made the Soviets blink

And still makes liberals in this country sad.



Today marks the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest quotes in world history. It was delivered in a speech by the last great president this country will ever know: Ronald Wilson Reagan. I was a 20-year-old Democrat when he gave this speech, and dd not realize until many years later just how badly this country needed his leadership and his fiercely dogged zeal in protecting this country, and in confronting and backing down the evil empire that was--WAS--the Soviet Union. And I had no idea of the historical significance of these six simple words--"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!!"
